The BEST weekend documented

As the day approached that we would find out the gender of our baby, my amazing husband decided to make plans for a weekend of non-stop fun in case I needed a little cheering up (aka we found out we were having another boy. I know I'd have gotten over it eventually, but it's always a little sad if you're expecting something and it doesn't happen). We happened to find out the day after his 27th birthday...so it worked out to have multiple reasons to party.
On his birthday, I packed my kiddos' suitcases, loaded them up, and dropped them off at Mimi's & Papa's where they would stay for two nights. Right after kissing them good-bye, I drove home to surprise Kempton with chicken wings that our tenants in our Wise Owl house made for him. (They're his favorite, he seriously can eat an unmentionable amount b/c they're THAT good). Our tenants have basically become our adopted parents/grandparents which has truly been a blessing.

 The happy birthday boy.
 The after-math.

The next morning, we went to my OB appointment where they led us into a room to do our ultrasound. We told the lady who was doing it to not tell us what it was whenever she got to that area. It seemed like forever while she took measurements of everything possible, the head, the heart, etc. Finally she got to the area and said "Ok, we're here." Kempton and I both squinted really hard to try to see something (especially a pee-pee since we obviously have experience in seeing those in ultra-sounds)...but couldn't see anything. Finally we said "we can't see anything" and it started to click that that meant there was NO PEE PEE. Then the ultrasound tech said "See the three lines...and the labia"...and I immediately screamed "that's a VAGINA!" (Sorry if that's too graphic...it's anatomy people!) I looked at her to confirm and she nodded and I immediately got tears in my eyes. I could not believe it, neither could Kempton. He knew I really wanted a girl, but we both deep down were expecting another boy.
That news automatically put me on Cloud 9, and I figured the weekend could not get any better. We left my OB and headed towards downtown Tampa where we were staying at a Waterside Marriott for the night. We hit up International Mall, shopped at H&M for the first time (even bought some onesies for baby girl) and then headed to our hotel to relax a bit before the Lady Antebellum concert that Kempton had tickets for that night. We hit up the pool and I have to say, it's amazing to lay out with NO KIDS!

After some pool time, we starting getting ready for the Lady Antebellum concert. When we got there, Kempton surprised me with the fact that we were GOING TO MEET LADY A!!! I could not believe it. We got a picture to prove it. I told them we had just found out we were having a girl, so that's why the main singer was pointing to my belly. :)

Bad picture of us, but great view from our hotel.

After the concert, we slept at our hotel....had an amazing five star breakfast and then hit the road to pick up our kiddos. We were so excited to share the news that they were going to be getting a little SISTER (even though Caydon had made it clear he wanted another brother). We decided to buy pink balloons, stuff them in a box and have them open it. It was a good idea that we did that, b/c they were so excited about the balloons I think they didn't realize that it meant they were getting a SISTER.
It was such a great weekend...I wish I could go back. Thanks hubby for making it so special, and thanks Mimi & Papa for taking such great care of our boys!
